Cooling water quality is crucial for the reliable operation of accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) instruments and particle accelerators. This paper describes the improvement of cooling water quality at the VERA facility, a stand-alone AMS installation at the University of Vienna. Inadequate quality had led to significant operational issues, including blockages in magnet coils. This paper details the restoration efforts, including system modifications and ongoing water quality management practices, aimed at ensuring long-term system stability.
