VERA joins the MetroPOEM consortium

25.07.2024

VERA, represented by Ass. Prof. Karin Hain, has joined the "MetroPOEM" consortium which now includes 23 partner institutes and 3 collaborators from all over Europe. This EU project is aiming at establishing and harmonizing measurement methods for the detection and characterization, of both radioactive isotopes and stable polluting elements, in support of the EU Green Deal's aim toward a zero pollution, toxic-free environment. Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) is particular suited to detect minute amounts of long-lived radioactive isotopes that remain in our environment for thousands of years. VERA will help to ensure the comparability of measurement results from AMS laboratories even when equipped with diverse instrumentation.
